The GDT is committed to cooperate in the implementation of the decision on banning plastic bags

The General Directorate of Taxes is among those institutions that is cooperating to implement the decision of the Albanian Government to ban the production, import and use of plastic bags in order to protect the environment.

In the meeting hosted by the Ministry of Tourism and Environment with the specialized implementing units, the General Director of Taxes, Mrs Vasilika Vjero, highlighted the fact that the Tax Administration is supporting this initiative and has been focused on such elements as education, formalization of the entrepreneurship and ensuring revenues.

“We will expand our cooperation with the structures of the National Environmental Agency, National Inspectorate of Environment and Central Technical Inspectorate regarding the collection and administration of the information on the quantity of holding plastic bags. Our units are currently operating in the field in cooperation with the local government structures”, stated Mrs Vjero.

The Tax Administration will be focused on all operators (70 entities in total) that manufacture holding plastic bags or plastic products, but also on entities that trade them.

Moreover, the Tax Administration would like to call upon all entities to trade these products against a fee which must be clearly stated in the tax coupon or tax invoice. In order to ensure the implementation of the law, inspections will be conducted on field, as well as notified fiscal visits.
