GDT participates in the 21st General Assembly of the Intra-European Organization of Tax Administrations (IOTA)

Representatives from the General Directorate of Taxes participated in the working sessions of the General Assembly of IOTA, the Intra-European Organization of Tax Administrations, held on June 28th and 29th in Kiev, Ukraine. In the 21st Assembly, where elections to choose the next presidency and the Executive Council were held, the Albanian Tax Administration was represented by the Deputy General Director, Mrs. Elisabeta Katiaj, and other representatives of the Albanian Tax Administration.

The work of the Assembly proceeded with a focus on the new strategy of the organization as well as on disruptive trends and new business models: “Challenges and implications for 21st century Tax Administration.

The strategic plan of IOTA includes five main directives which are:
Improving and organizing tax administrations and methods of tax administration.

Assisting member countries to develop strategies related to human resources, including trainings.

Facilitating and sharing experiences, as well as developing information technologies in the member countries of IOTA.

Promoting specific actions to improve the levels of compliance with tax liabilities.

Regulating and improving the functioning of IOTA.

The Albanian Tax Administration is a member and active participant in the trainings related to capacity strengthening in areas like: auditing, taxpayers’ service, information technologies, etc.
